Tips To Have More Fun On The Golf Course

Tips to Have More Fun on the Golf CourseTips to Have More Fun on the Golf Course by aabadie

If you are a seasoned golfer, you probably already have fun at the golf course most of the time. What could be better than spending some hours on a manicured expanse of dense green grass? Not only is the scenery peaceful but also the exercise can be soothing to your soul. Even if you ride in a cart, you still get to do some walking, bending, and swinging your clubs. If you're a beginner, or someone who just wants to enjoy playing 18 holes a bit more, here are some tips.

Bring the Right Stuff

You can't just show up at a golf course in your blue jeans and flip-flops. Most courses have dress codes that include specialized shoes, collared sport shirts, and dressy shorts and slacks. Inquire about the dress code before showing up dressed inappropriately. Also, bring a hat and some sunscreen. It may feel cool and lovely because of all those meadows of lawn, but you'll still get sunburned if you don't take precautions. You don't want to get sunburn and you certainly don't want to have those strange tan lines around your socks and short sleeves. Bring all the right clubs, tees, and extra balls. Yes, you will likely lose a few and you don't want to end your game because of a few lost balls.

Go Golfing With Fun Golfers

What's your golfing style? Are you a serious golfer who follows the rules like a drill sergeant? Then make sure you pair up with players who share your zest for regulations. If you decide to play 18 holes with Loose Lucy who laughs at the rules, neither of you will have much fun. If you like to have a few drinks before, during, and after your game, don't play with friends who have sworn off booze or it will be more than a bit awkward. If you're a big joke teller and you take a partner who must have absolute silence during the game, no one will be laughing by the end of the day.

Have a Positive Attitude

Always remember that the purpose of being on a golf course is to play a game. If you can't get a ball in the cup to save your life, don't let it ruin your day. Even if you are way over par, you can still enjoy the lovely scenery and the company of your companions provided you brought the right ones. Even if you have the worst score of your life, remember that tomorrow is always another day.

When you are on the golf course, you should be having fun. Remember to bring the right stuff, play with the right people, and have the right attitude. Be prepared, lighten up, and enjoy.
